Nervous tissue is the sensing and communicating tissue of the body.  Only two examples are displayed here: a golgi-stained neuron coated in black to show the body (soma) and its dendrites or axon with its collaterals; and, a very large alpha or giant motor neuron from the spinal cord stained to show the soma, nucleus, cell membrane and nissl bodies.
