Publications by Kim Scipes--Last updated:  November 4, 2014.

RETURN TO INDEX

This page is divided into two parts:  most recent publications are listed by date of publication (most recent first), beginning with Fall 2004, when Dr. Scipes began teaching at Purdue University North Central; and an overview of Dr. Scipes' publications, where they are located by subject category and listed within each by date, with most recent first (and covering all of Dr. Scipes' publications since 1984).  Dr. Scipes has published over 160 articles--not including peer-reviewed articles--since 1984.

Whenever possible, articles are linked to web sites where they've been posted.  All links were tested on April 23, 2014,, and are active unless noted otherwise.  Should they be inactive, you might be able to put the title of the article you seek, in quotes, into Google--sometimes they will be posted elsewhere and this will help you find them.

NOTE:  Z Net has been a strong supporter of my work over the years, posting and reposting my work even when it was published elsewhere.  This allowed me to present links to many of my articles, and has been a stable site.  However, in early 2014, they upgraded their site, which changed links to all of my articles, therefore disabling all of the  links to my articles on their web site.  It will take some time to re-establish these links and make them operable again.  If you want to see these articles, the best way to try to find them is to put the title in Google and see what you come up with--oftentimes articles get reposted on other sites and, therefore, may be acccessible.  I will put up a new notice once the links have been re-established and are again accessible.

Overview of Dr. Scipes' publications:

Since 1984, I have written and been published on a wide number of subjects--as of this date, I have published over 160 separate articles and book reviews, excluding peer-reviewed articles, and two books.

My academic work is divided into books, Ph.D. dissertation, peer-reviewed articles, and book/movie reviews.

My articles that have been published in specialty and serious popular publications--in hard copy, in hard copy and on web sites, and sometimes only on a web site--are listed by Subject:  Miscellaneous Publications; Chicago: International Political Economy; Neoliberal Economic Policies around the Globe; Environmental/Ecological Politics, Urban PoliticsMedia; Social Movements, War/Military/Empire, Philippines; Venezuela; Labor Theory; Building Grassroots Labor Internationalism; International Labor (not Philippines); US Labor (not including AFL-CIO Foreign Operations); AFL-CIO Foreign Operations.  (With only a few exceptions, there is almost no overlap of the articles in the above-listed categories--and, whenever possible, electronic links to articles are provided.)

On April 25, 2007, I created a new category, Neo-liberal Economic Policies around the Globe.  This brings together my writings on this subject from the Philippines, South Africa, Venezuela and the United States (from different categories)--each based on personal field research.
