Sandy: report: May '05:  We had two restoration work days with Lake County Parks and Recreation, and adopt a highway cleanups.  Very interesting group meeting programs.  Some hikes, one in partnership with the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore interpretive staff.  Two long term projects we worked on are finally finished: 352 acres of land acquisition in Hobart Marsh for a mitigation project, and the Connections 2030 long range transportation plan.  The transportation plan was disappointing because we got a sprawl plan which is causing the State of Indiana to give us a higher air pollution budget because the traffic is modeled to pollute more than expected. Our call for smart growth and land use planning over the years of meetings got into the goals and objectives of the plan but then were largely ignored.
